Aborigines prescription and IUCN status of Chironji in Sonbhadra District, Uttar Pradesh, India

Due to extensive demand of herbal medicines population of several plants carrying medicinal potential have shown substantial decline. Buchanania lanzan Spring. (Chironji) seeds are rich source of nutrients and minerals is considered as chemical goldmine. It is a native of Indian sub-continent found in tropical deciduous forest of Sonbhadra district. It is used by indigenous people as monitory source as well as ethnomedicine. It lies as vulnerable (VU) plant under IUCN status, recorded in Red Data book and needs future strategies for its conservation.
