Healing spices in southern Indian Rasam: A medicinal plant-based exploration of nutritional and health benefits

nutrients. Consuming these classic foods on regular basis offers a great way to prevent many illnesses. Rasam, a traditional dish popular in the southern region of India consumed usually along with rice on a regular basis is known for its unique blend of spices and a wide range of ingredients like tamarind, turmeric, tomato, sesame oil, chili pepper, garlic, black pepper, coriander and asafoetida all offering therapeutic and physiological advantage to human health.
The findings of this review paper will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on traditional foods and their potential health implications. The goal is to bridge the gap between traditional culinary practices and modern nutritional sciences, shedding light on the potential of Rasam as a health- promoting element in southern cuisine.
