Flavonoids are hydroxylated phenolic compounds with an aromatic ring structure, and quercetin is a well-known subclass. As a naturally occurring bioactive compound, quercetin is linked to numerous health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. It may also help manage heart-related conditions such as high cholesterol, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. This review explores quercetin’s chemical composition, absorption, metabolism, bioavailability, and biological activities. It provides an in-depth analysis of its role in the body, emphasizing its biological functions and potential applications in promoting overall health. Current research highlights quercetin’s promising therapeutic potential. However, further studies are needed to fully understand its mechanisms, particularly its protective effects against inflammation and immune-related conditions. Understanding these processes could enhance its use as a natural health supplement.
