Chrysanthemum indicum: An insight into its phytochemistry and pharmacological activities

Chrysanthemum indicum is a flower commonly used in traditional Korean and Chinese medicine to treat inflammatory diseases. It's also known for enhancing flavors in food, as well as being used in teas and alcoholic drinks from a very long time.
Chrysanthemum indicumplant is a long lived that has been used in herbal medicine for over 2,000 years in China. It is often used to treat the conditions like Pemphigus, swelling,and pain. So far, there are 190 different chemical compounds have been found in this plant, including flavonoids, terpenoids, phenylpropanoids, and phenolic acids. Recently, it has gained popularity, as an herbal medicine for its anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, fever-reducing properties, and as well as also for treating the eye conditions.
The active ingredients in this flower include with the glycosides, and flavonoids, which can fight against various harmful bacteria. However, the specific medicinal effects and active compounds of Chrysanthemum indicum are not yet fully explored. It can be used in various forms. For example, extracts, essential oils, and dried flowers.
A recent study examined that the medicinal uses, and antibacterial properties of the ethanolic extract of Chrysanthemum indicum and its nanoparticles against bacteria that cause oral, skin, and digestive infections. The extract of Chrysanthemum indicum is very effective against oral, skin, and digestive bacteria, and some hospital-related bacteria also showed resistance to it.
