Biochar-enriched substrates have garnered considerable attention due to their potential to enhance both the growth and medicinal properties of crops, including mushrooms. The cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushroom) on biochar-amended substrates has been shown to improve its growth, yield, and nutritional value, making it a promising method for enhancing the pharmacological potential of mushrooms. This research investigates the impact of biochar-enriched substrates on the medicinal properties of P. ostreatus, particularly its bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides, phenols, and antioxidant activity. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the effects of varying concentrations of biochar on the chemical composition and medicinal properties of P. ostreatus. The hypothesis suggests that biochar-enriched substrates will enhance the production of bioactive compounds, thereby improving the medicinal benefits of the mushroom. Through this research, we aim to explore how the concentration of biochar in the substrate can optimize the production of medicinal compounds in P. ostreatus, which will have valuable implications for both agricultural and medicinal applications. The results of this research will help in optimizing mushroom cultivation techniques and promoting the use of biochar in sustainable agricultural practices.
