Impatiens balsamina is an ornamental plant with rose like flowers which comes under the family Balsaminaceace. Traditionally in China it is claimed for hair growth, but it has not received much attention as a hair growth promoter as it deserves. Therefore, this research investigation is envisaged on Extraction, phytochemical screening, TLC analysis and screening crude extract of Impatiens balsamina flowers for potential growth. In this work methanol was used for extraction of flowers. By phytochemical screening the methanolic extract of flowers showed positive for phytochemicals like alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols, sterols, carbohydrates, saponins, glycosides, amino acids, oxalates, and steroids. They were further confirmed by TLC analysis. Then one percent crude extract of flowers was applied on the dorsal portion of skin over shaved rats. Then the rats were observed and assessed for hair growth for 28 days. Then the plant extract screened for hair growth and hair length, extract (300mg/kg) treated group was showed more hair follicle growth and potent compared to the control, treated standard (minoxidil) and low dose groups. The plant extract shows the excellent activity for the hair growth. It was observed that the results obtained were highly significant. These findings are efficient and Impatiens balsamina flowers extract serves as a potential altenative for hair growth treatment.
