Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.): A millenary plant with broad phytotherapeutic potential

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) is one of the most widely used medicinal plants in the world, well recognized for its therapeutic properties. Numerous clinical and pharmacological studies have confirmed its anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, digestive, antioxidant, and antimicrobial potential. This article reviews the main phytotherapeutic properties of chamomile, its chemical composition, forms of use, clinical applications, as well as considerations regarding safety and contraindications.
